L.A. Trip - Ridiculously pic heavy!

I tried to plan a big birthday surprise for Uly for his birthday, but when that fell through we decided to plan a day up in L.A. anyways, and it just so happened to be that the day that we could do it was our 1 month anniversary! Uly played tour guide for me and took me around Hollywood, the Griffith Park Observatory and we ate some YUMMY hot dogs! I can't wait to go back!!!

THIS, my friends, is a feast of Pink's hot dogs! They were delicious, my favorite was the Ruben dog, yummmmmm!

The aftermath!

WHERE THEY FILM GLEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uly and I! :)

The Hollywood sign from the Giffith Park Observatory

That place had AMAZING views! Totally worth almost falling over the edge. Yeah, that almost happened, I'm a klutz!

Awwwwww!!!

L.A.!!!!!!

Mother's Day

I finally got my computer put back together and pictures uploaded so I can post some pictures of the last few months! This is Uly and I's first date as an official couple and it was an AWESOME one for sure!!! :)

Our first stop was at the Queen Elizabeth 2 to check it out. They had a funny Russian exibit that we had to check out, and when we saw the "Leninade" we HAD to buy some!!!!

Long Beach, that's the Queen Elizabeth 2 in the background

Beautiful Long Beach!!!!

Silas was SUCH a good sport, he loved being pushed around in his stroller around the waterfront! :)

I know you're going to read this, Uly, so THANK YOU for the best Mother's Day ever! You're gonna have to work pretty hard to top this next year! ;)

New Chapter!

Well there isn't too much NEW about this bit of news, but I'm making it super duper official with the start of my new blog. :) This year has brought a lot of changes for me, ones that I wasn't really ready for, but am glad have come about. My living situation was a little crazy for a bit, but it's been even better to get out and on my own...Sort of. The timing wasn't right for me to try being on my own, but after relying on the geneoursity of some people from church I finally have found a pretty sweet set up in Redlands, CA. Silas and I are still sharing a room but we have a great room mate, named Ashley as well! I had help finding her on Craig's list but I sure got lucky; I think we're going to have a lot of fun together.
For those that don't read my Facebook status's and have been demanding details (JANELLE! :)) I am dating again! I met Uly through my friend Caitie and he recently finally became unattached and asked me on a date for Mother's Day!! He took Silas and I to Long Beach and showed us around the Queen Mary 2 and the waterfront area of Long Beach. I have officially fallen in love with that city! Silas was a trooper the whole time, content to sit in his stroller and look around - as long as we were moving, and quite grateful for the times he did get let out to (attempt to) run around on the grass! Uly is the one who helped me find my new apartment when my plans fell through somewhere else. After going so long without anyone to help me AND even longer without having someone to care for me and shower me with love and affection I am eating it up like none other! He spoils me and I wouldn't have it any other way!
I'm still working on moving things into my new place, so once my computer is moved in, I'll force him into posing for a few pictures with me! :)

Too Good To Not Post!

As I was sitting here on the internet procrastinating going to the grocery store socializing, I came upon this post in a group that I'm a part of and I couldn't resist posting it!!

Articles of Faith of Mormon Culture

1. We believe in SUVs and minivans, as the form of transportation, and in knee length shorts, which are always nice, and in multilevel marketing.

2. We believe that Church ball players should be punished for their own fouls, and not for unsportsmanlike aggression.

3. We believe that through bread crumbs, cheese, creamy soups, and rice all casseroles can be saved through obedience to ward cookbooks and creativity in the mixing bowl.

4. We believe that the first layers and ingredients of the dip are: first, beans; second, cheese; third, chopped tomatoes; fourth, the gift of sour cream; fifth, olives; sixth, salsa; seventh, guacamole, that is, if you have it.

5. We believe that a Mormon should have a distinguished or a cute name, that it is appropriate to name a child after a church leader or a historical figure including an ancestor, that alternative spellings and French prefixes only add to a name, and that when referring to the names of General Authorities, middle initials should be a part thereof.

6. We believe in the same wall decor that exists in many Mormon homes, namely, framed family proclamations, vinyl lettering, inspirational word signs, family photos, pictures of temples and Jesus, and so forth.

7. We believe in the gift of the re-gift, Church books, crafts, family photos, baked goods, emergency supply kits, and so forth.

8. We believe in sparkling grape juice so long as it is nonalcoholic; we also believe in bringing root beer and sprite to ward parties.

9. We believe in all that we have scrapbooked or blogged , all that we will now scrapbook or blog , and we believe that we will yet scrapbook and blog many great and important things pertaining to our family, friends, pets, and vacations.

10. We believe in the literal mixing of ketchup and mayo and in the generous application of ranch dressing; that CBAs (church-based acronyms) will be used to describe YM/YW, PEC, the Y, NCMO, and CTR; that Mitt Romney will get Mormons to vote for him any time he runs; and, that the Mormons will enjoy reading Twilight and The Work and the Glory.

11. We claim the privilege of trying to identify common acquaintances with any visitor at Church, and allow all other people at Church the same privilege, and let them name drop the names of famous and General Authorities how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to scoutmasters, pampered chef hostesses, and the writers of the U.S. News and World Report rankings for professional schools, and in obeying, honoring, and sustaining Glenn Beck.

13. We believe in being above average, good at crafts, optimistic, and being fifteen minutes late everywhere we go. Indeed, we may say that we follow BYU football. We believe rumors about famous people joining the Church, we hope to meet the three Nephites, we have endured many pyramid schemes, and hope to be able to endure all pyramid schemes. If there is anything cheap, free, sold in bulk, or given away when somebody is moving, we seek after these things.

Not ready!

This adorable baby boy turns 1 in a week and I am sooooooo not ready for it! I went through his drawers tonight and cried while packing up my favorite clothes that he doesn't fit in anymore.

It's just so surreal to me that a year ago I was hugely pregnant, living in cold Salt Lake City and working at Chili's and didn't have a BABY! Oh how my life has changed!

I am so grateful for this little dude, he is just so adorable and brightens every day of my life! I can never be mad at him for long cuz that little smile of his just melts my heart! I'm so grateful that I've been given the chance to experience the utter joy of being a mom!

Now off to take care of another side effect of being a mom...Utter sleep deprivation!

Guess What Time It Is!

Yeah it's time for another super long post stuffed full of pictures. I've been keeping ourselves busy with new highchairs, new foods, and learning new things! Silas is just too cute for words. He loves his highchair and LOVES food, especially "big boy" food. I'll feed him his dinner and then sit down with mine and within 2 minutes he's at my knee, looking at my plate and licking his lips! He's officially gone without a bottle at night for a whole week tonight! He is starting to sleep through the night more, usually waking up at 4 or 5 in the morning and *gasp* coming in bed with Mommy until he wakes back up at 8 or so. I'm going to give him another week of not having a bottle at night, then start getting him to go back to sleep in his crib and then after we master that...Going to sleep on his own!!! It'll be a process but I'd rather take my time and have it stick then not.
He's got his front four top and bottom teeth and is working on cutting a few molars. He was really unhappy for a few days, but with a combo of Orajel and Motrin he's been a lot better. He hasn't even had anything today and was just fine!
He still has yet to stand for more than a few seconds by himself, but is working on wearing a path in the rug from cruising around the coffee table. Physically he's developing right along schedule but socially he has no interest in learning how to "give loves", give kisses, wave, any of that stuff. It makes me a little worried, but I just need to be better about trying to teach him things and it'll all come along eventually. He loves just about anyone who will hold him and give him attention!

We had a really bad rainstorm which flooded the wash by my house...Then a week later it rained so hard they shut down my road on one side!

You can't tell but his feet aren't even touching the floor here!
