Domesticated Diva!

Now that I've got lots more space to cook in this house I have been having so much fun cooking my butt off! These pictures are from a while ago, but I'm having fun picking up the tricks of taking food pictures - these are definitely some of my best pictures!

Sauteed Zucchini with Parmesan cheese, yummmmmmmmmmm

The zucchini with balsamic chicken with pesto gravy, one of my favorites!

Anyone who's friends with me on facebook saw my note about these yummy cookies, Mexican Chocolate cookies. The recipe was originally a cake recipe but I played with it a bit and turned them into cookies; it's a super easy recipe and I even made the frosting from scratch!

Things are going well, and the weather has cooled down just a bit and it's beautiful here. Silas is keeping us all entertained. He's developed a sense of humor and is just so fun to be around!

Army Crawl!

Well, today's post WAS going to be a witty reporting of my domestic doings and pictures of the house, but Silas decided to premiere his army crawl! I watched him follow my foot for a good two feet before deciding to dare to run and grab my camera, hoping that he'd still do it, and he did!! He didn't go as far this time, but I still manged to get the Army crawl! My baby's growing up!

*EDIT*
For some reason the video isn't loading (it could be our "borrowed" internet...) so I'm just going to post this anyways and put the video up later!

He's so proud of himself!!!

While I'm waiting for the video to upload, I might as well throw some more pictures on here!

This is the kitchen, obviously. I like how my sink is always full of dirty dishes in all of the kitchen pictures I take! Trust me, those got done right after taking this picture!

Another view of the kitchen. The doorway you see leads to 2 of the bedrooms and the 1 of the bathrooms.

Living room!

Another living room view. The chair by the swamp cooler is the best for reading at night! I've cuddled up with a book or two already while here!

This is a door shot of the bathroom, and Silas's bedroom will be the room right to the left of it. You can go into the kitchen through the doorway on the right.

This is the door to the garage, and then on the right is the 2nd bathroom door.

Good Solid Fun!

Things are going well here in Cali! I finally dug out my cord to connect the camera, AND got some old(er) pictures of my computer so I'll be updating in the next few days, so there's not just one HUGE post!
Silas is doing great. He loves having so much room to roll around and play in. I bought him an excersaucer and HE LOVES IT! He will play in that forever! I've started bringing him into the kitchen in it while I cook or do dishes and he just loves it! Hopefully he'll pick up my love of cooking!
I'm STILL jobless! My job is pending on my old General Manager's recommendation which is long in coming...A manager quit so I'm sure things are CRAZY there while they're short one. Even so, things are getting tight and I'm quite ready to be working for tips AND $8.25 an hour!
These pictures are pretty old, so forgive me for slacking so badly, but here they are finally! Silas and I's first experience with rice cereal, yum yum!

He actually really liked the rice cereal, but since we've started him on baby food, there's no interest! My friend Heather gave me a really good tip and I've been mixing his baby food with cereal, so it's chunkier and he's still getting rice. It'll help him transition over to thicker foods as well, I think.

Where has time gone?

My little man is going to be 6 months old on Sept 4th, and I am just amazed! It really feels like it was only yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital! He looked so tiny in his crib...

...And look at him now!

Being a mom is everything I had hoped it would be and MORE. Every day I fall even more in love with this little dude, and am always entertained by him, and miss him every minute that I'm away from him!

VIDEOS!

So I've taken a handful of videos of Silas with my camera since he's been born, but I've just never gotten around to posting them. Well, now I have! For your viewing enjoyment, here's Silas!:
*EDIT*
Please ignore my fake smiley voice that I use while talking to my baby; I just now noticed it!

Zoo!

A few weekends ago I splurged and went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. While it didn't measure up to Point Defiance or Woodland Park Zoo (in Tacoma and Seattle, respectively.) it more than made up for it with plenty of monkeys, tigers, penguins AND a baby giraffe!
Silas was asleep for the first half or so, but once he woke up he loved it! I wasn't sure how much he was really noticing the animals until we got to the penguins and they jumped in and started swimming; he sat and watched them swim around for a good few minutes!! He's going to be a nature and animal lover for sure!

Baby giraffe!

We got the the Giraffe area right as it was feeding time, it was so cool!

Silas right after waking up. He wasn't too sure where the heck he was!

At the penguin area.

Washington love

I love going home! It's definitely one of the best trips out there that can be, especially since all of us kids were home for the first time...Well, since last year, but also since Silas was born. It was a lot of fun to be home, even if only for a few days! I'm not going to post ALL of my Washington pictures here, but if you have facebook, you can find them all there!: www.facebook.com/renchdog. Even so, get ready for a picture overload!!
