Oliver turns 3!

Oliver turned 3 last week!  I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that he’s been in my life for 3 whole years now, because it feels just like yesterday that he was this little baby coming home from the hospital and I had no clue what the heck I was doing! I’m still learning as I go, but this little man has made my life so full and so happy!

Oliver is such a happy, sweet little man.  He is very loving, and loves to give kisses, hugs, and what we call “nuddles”.  If he doesn’t want to go to sleep he’ll tearfully say “Mama, I want nuddles” and it works EVERY time!  His Spanish vocabulary improves every day, but we do really need to step it up with him.  He can count to 3…sometimes.  He loves to watch Dora the Explorer, Little Einsteins, Super Why, and of course Cars!  The things he comes up and tells me sometimes just amaze me, he is so smart and loves to learn things.  He is super opinionated, and extremely independent, but still is willing to ask for and accept help, which has to be the best combination ever!   He hit 40 inches the first part of February and is just shy of 40 pounds.  We are so lucky to have him in our lives, and love him to pieces!!

We decided to do his birthday at John’s Incredible Pizza – it’s kind of like Chuck E. Cheese, but we got a better deal overall so we went with John’s.  We are so happy that we did, we had so much fun, and it was so nice to be able to totally trash a room, then walk away from it!

We kept it small, just inviting family and our closest friends, which was so much fun.  The guy in the lower right in yellow is Oliver’s “Vuncle”John, as in his Vietnamese Uncle. Uly coined that term and has termed himself as the future “Muncle”(Mexican Uncle) of John’s kids.

Oliver was so in love with all the balloons that he did not even want to eat!

We had the cutest little party hostess who made balloon animal after balloon animal, Oliver just loved it.

This boy got so spoiled with presents, he has lots of people who love him!

I think this present from Uly’s sister Ali just took the cake.  It’s a Cars chair that folds out into a bed and Oliver just loves it.  He’s slept in it pretty much every night since his birthday, which I have no complaints about! I’m just sad he’ll be too tall to sleep in it in a few months, haha!

Oliver, we love you so much and are so happy you are our little man! We are so excited to see you grow up!

Mom and Dad come to California!

My mom and dad came out for a whirlwind vacation at the start of February.  We only have 2 whole days so we jam packed as much as we could into those two days! Monday we went up to L.A. to see the Griffith Park Observatory, Venice Beach, and ended the day at Santa Monica Pier.  Phew!  Here are some of my favorites from that day!

Just kidding, this was!!

The next day we crammed Disneyland and California Adventure in but since it was raining Uly and I decided to leave our camera in the car.  My parents loved California Adventure and I’m trying to figure out how to get them back here in the fall to visit Carsland!!

California Christmas and New Year’s

Oliver and I flew back to California the night before New Year’s Eve so Uly and I kept some of his presents here in California so we could have our own little Christmas.  Oliver woke up from his nap to even more presents and was so excited!

We spent New Ýear’s over at Uly’s friend’s place, which was super fun! We were so busy talking and hanging out that I didn’t take a lot of pictures, sad! We managed to get someone to snag this cute one of us though! :)

Christmas…A few months late!

I’m not even going to try and apologize…I stink at posting!! Maybe one of these days I’ll get it together, but until then…Get used to seeing things months late, haha!

Christmas was a lot of fun! My parents were awesome enough to buy Oliver a ticket to Washington, so I bought myself one and off we went! Ben and Mercedes – who I hadn’t seen since their wedding! – and Al and Jay were all home so it was a great Christmas together! Oliver had so much fun playing with his cousins and still asks for them to this day!

I had such a fun Christmas and I am so grateful that Oliver and I got to go home and spend such a fun Christmas with my side of the family.  This year…Christmas in Mexico! We can’t wait!
